The Monrovia Historical Society President and official city historian, Steve Baker, reflects on the past - his own and Monrovia's - as he approaches his 80th birthday on Sept. 4.
Whether it was exposure to his parents, grandparents, great grandparents, or great great grandparents, who all lived in Monrovia, Baker says he acquired an interest in Monrovia history through osmosis. He is a fifth-generation American.
"Growing up, I heard lots of stories. My grandmother told good stories, and my father even told better ones. I could soak them in without working at it."
