Lunar New Year is celebrated by an estimated eight million Asian Americans on January 19. This year is particularly unique because for the Chinese and a few other Asian communities, 2023 marks the Year of the Rabbit, but for many in the Vietnamese

community, it is also the Year of the Cat. Walmart wants to recognize the importance of this auspicious holiday by embracing a few of the rich traditions that are part of this celebration.

From adorning the dinner table with unique flavors to decorating your home, every celebration has a deeper meaning. Ingredients such as orange fruit symbolize abundance and noodles signify longevity. Other customs may involve sharing wishes of good fortune and health.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Walmart will dedicate a community Wish Tree to a local nonprofit.

You are invited to participate in the celebration that shares rich stories around the Lunar New Year dinner table and ties the first wish on the community Wish Tree.
