On Friday, during the final paving of Monterey Road, a sinkhole was discovered by workers. Associate Civil Engineer Alex Chou stated that the sinkhole is located at 852 Monterey Road. To ensure safety, the sinkhole has been covered with a steel plate and the lane will be temporarily closed. The contractor will return on Monday, June 18th to carry out the necessary repairs.

According to Chou, a westbound lane on Monterey Road, from Meridian Avenue to Glendon Way, will be closed for the entire weekend. City officials request the public's understanding during the ongoing road construction which has caused some traffic delays in recent days. The repairs to the sinkhole, covered by the metal plate, are scheduled to take place on Monday.
