Alhambra's Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the city, is extending an invitation to elementary school students to participate in an Art Contest. The contest will inspire the design of the City's float for the 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade, which will follow the theme of "Celebrating a World of Music, the Universal Language." Music, a medium that brings people from diverse backgrounds together, is the focal point of the theme.

The Art Contest is open to all students attending Alhambra Unified Elementary Schools situated in the City of Alhambra. The students must submit their artwork along with their application. They can use any medium they choose, ranging from digital design to crayons, provided their artwork relates to the theme.

Applications for the contest are available at several locations, including City Hall, Almansor Park, Alhambra Park, Joslyn Center, and the Civic Center Library. Alternatively, applicants can download the application here. The deadline for application submission is March 16, 2023, which is a Thursday.

The winner of the Art Contest will receive two VIP tickets to witness the unveiling of their design on a flower-covered float at the 2024 Rose Parade on New Year's Day morning. The Rose Parade, a renowned New Year's Day tradition, showcases various entries such as corporations, non-profits, municipalities, equestrian units, and bands. Moreover, the floats need to be adorned with flowers or other natural materials.
