A homeless man was found dead near a hiking trail in Eaton Canyon on Sunday afternoon. Los Angeles County firefighters discovered his body in a ditch about 60 feet from the Pinecrest Trail around 12 p.m.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the cause of death. His identity has not been released yet.
The area where he was found had experienced heavy rain and snow and temperatures below freezing in the past few days. The Eaton Canyon Natural Reserve, a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers, was closed from Friday to Sunday due to inclement weather.
