According to authorities, three individuals were hospitalized on Thursday morning after a single-vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Concord and Fremont avenues in Alhambra. The driver was reportedly fleeing from South Pasadena police due to suspicion of catalytic converter theft. The pursuit began after an officer noticed a double-parked Lexus sedan with no headlights or license plate adjacent to a parked Toyota Prius on Fremont Avenue. The pursuit ended when the driver crashed off the road.Â
Eyewitness News reports that this is at least the thirteenth pursuit in Los Angeles County so far this year, resulting in eight injuries and seven fatalities.
California agencies have guidelines on initiating pursuits, asking officers to consider factors such as the initial reason for the stop, the safety and volume of traffic, location, visibility, and the danger posed by the driver.
