Less Than a Year Apart, Two Toddlers Died While in the Care of Their Grandmother.

Tracy Nix's tragic history with her grandchildren began in 2021 when her 16-month-old grandson, Ezra, drowned in a nearby lake while she was supposed to be watching him. Nix fell asleep, and during that time, the boy wandered off and ended up in the lake. This incident was devastating for the family, and they were still grieving when the second tragedy occurred.

Last November, Nix was taking care of her seven-month-old granddaughter, Uriel. She had gone out for lunch and returned home without remembering that Uriel was in the car. Despite the soaring temperatures that day, Nix was inside practicing piano and went about her day, completely unaware of the baby girl in the back seat. It wasn't until 4:30 in the afternoon that she realized her mistake and went outside to find Uriel unresponsive in the car.

Nix's daughter, Kaila, who was six months pregnant at the time, rushed to her parent's house after receiving the news. However, on the way, she was involved in a head-on crash with another vehicle. Despite the accident, Kaila was determined to get to her son, who was at her parents' house and ran there barefoot.

Kaila and her husband, Drew, are now demanding justice for their son and niece. They believe that Nix needs to be held accountable for her actions and are calling for her to be sentenced to prison. If convicted, Nix faces up to 30 years in prison.
