Los Angeles County's Average Gas Price Decreases, Breaking Streak of Continuous Rises

According to the AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average cost of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased by four-tenths of a cent on Monday, reaching $4.867. This decline marks the end of a five out of six day increase streak. In the past week, the average price of gas in the county rose by 1.6 cents, but it is currently 4.7 cents less expensive than it was a month ago and $1.12 cheaper than one year ago. The county's average gas price has dropped by $1.627 since reaching a record high of $6.494 on Oct. 5.

Meanwhile, in Orange County, the average gas price rose for the fifth time in the past seven days, increasing by one-tenth of a cent to $4.831. In the past week, the average price of gas in the county has risen by 2.9 cents, but it is currently 5.5 cents less expensive than it was a month ago and $1.107 cheaper than one year ago. The county's average gas price has dropped by $1.63 since reaching a record high of $6.459 on Oct. 5.
